Kestone Educational Consulting Group was formed by Dr. Richael Barger-Anderson, Dr. Joseph Merhaut, and Dr. Robert Isherwood in 2005 using a small grant from Temple University and the Pennsylvania Department of Education to support inclusive education in public schools in Pennsylvania. Initially, trainings focused on topics such as the five models of co-teaching, differentiated instruction, and general disability awareness. The first trainings were provided in the Karns City School District in PA and were well received. In fact, it was such a success that many local school districts in PA contacted KECG to provide similar training. That was seven years ago! Today, KECG provides workshops all over the United States and the U.S. Virgin Islands in many topics related to the current mandates and challenges that school districts face. The firm employs numerous educators prepared to provide high quality professional development in large and small group settings in almost any area needed. Please see the services page to see a comprehensive list of all topics covered and services provided.
KECG is also the founder of the Western Pennsylvania Special Education Academy which meets annually at different locations in Western Pennsylvania. WPSEA was formed to provide professional development to school district special education personnel and provide opportunities to network with school professionals in Western Pennsylvania. Each meeting is hosted by KECG and local, state, and national speakers are brought in to share current research and relevant information in the field of special education. Topics planned for the future include special education school law issues, neuroscience education, the new PA teacher evaluation tool, and SWPBS implementation. If interested in attending a WPSEA event, please contact KECG using the contact page or call 724-290-6057 to speak to Dr. Robert Isherwood.
